Welcome to Lotus Town Yoga!
We are a community driven vinyasa yoga studio that not only leads students through quality classes but also works to educate and empower students to understand their minds and bodies.
We are a WARM studio. Temperatures will range between 76 and 80 degrees to allow the body to naturally build internal heat with breath and movement.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class so that you have a chance to settle in before practice. If you are a new student, arrive 15 minutes early in order to get to know the studio, register for classes, and settle in.
If you arrive late, please be courteous and come in as quietly as you can so as to not disturb the class.
Kick off your shoes and relax- yoga is best practiced in bare feet. Don’t worry about having a fresh pedicure for every class- come as you are!
Please turn your cell phones OFF. Even on silent, the phone will buzz. Take this time to unplug. You might even consider leaving your phone in your car!
What is Vinyasa Yoga?
Vinyasa yoga emphasizes the connection between movement and breath. The word “vinyasa” is Sanskrit for “to place in a special way.” Classes are sequenced with intelligence and intention to serve the students’ wellbeing and health. Classes combine periods of fluid movement with much needed stillness in order to relax and rejuvenate.
What are the benefits of yoga?
Yoga can bring greater ease into the body, more mental clarity and calm, and a general sense of well-being. It can increase flexibility, balance, and strength. It can prepare us for life off the mat- to be able to move more freely, to practice love and compassion towards ourselves and others, and our ability to keep breathing in the face of a challenge.
What should I wear?
Wear something that you are comfortable moving in. Most students find that workout clothes you would wear at the gym are perfect for the yoga studio, as well.
What should I bring to class?
A mat, water, and a hand towel if you know you tend to sweat. If you don’t have a mat or forget yours, we have some to borrow! Water is available and ready to flow into YOUR water bottle.
I have no idea what I’m doing... can I still come?
Of course! We all have to start somewhere and this is the place to try! Lotus Town Yoga is a safe space to explore new things without judgement and with plenty of support from teachers and students. We offer gentle classes and an ongoing Fundamentals of Vinyasa course that support new practitioners and students looking to refine their existing practice.
